3D PRACTICE
WATCHMEN
To celebrate Watchmen's success at the 2020 Emmy Awards, I wanted to do a purely personal and internal project to practice some 3D skills.
Although the Emmy statuette can't be used for commercial marketing purposes, I saw the opportunity to create a cool transition between the almost atomic structure of the statuette and Dr. Manhattan's atom symbol. Recreating that key art in 3D felt like the perfect celebratory resolve along with Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross' award winning score.
I used an existing stock model of the statuette, animating and rendering the scene in Cinema 4D and simulating the confetti in Houdini.

3D PRACTICE
HIGH MAINTENANCE
Looking for opportunities to develop my team's skills, I led regular extra-curricular workshops with fun prompts that hoped to motivate them.
During a modeling exercise, I attempted to adapt the two-dimensional key art for Season 4 of High Maintenance. The goal was to infuse on-brand meaning through motion, lighting, and audio. The key art served as my reference to sculpt the bust in ZBrush, simulate the smoke in Houdini, and render in Cinema 4D with Redshift.
ZBRUSH SCULPTING
ZBrush sculpting is undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable aspects of the digital creative process.
The following images are weekly assignments from my time learning the fundamentals of the software at the NYU School of Professional Studies. The Ed Harris bust in the lead graphic of this page was the final result of the last week's assignment.
